Canyon of the Eagles FAQs

  • We strongly suggest driving to the Eagle Eye Observatory at night due to the non-paved road and minimal lighting available. This helps ensure you have the safest and best star-viewing experience.

  • American Bald Eagles nest nearby during the winter months, typically October through March, or until it becomes too warm. Their enormous nests can be seen on the edge of the property near the mouth of the Colorado River and Lake Buchanan. Eagles may be spotted at various times throughout the day, especially at Overlook Restaurant and lakeside at the water’s edge during the early morning hours.

  • The Guest Services staff are happy to assist you should you require assistance to your room. However, the golf carts are not for public use and are utilized by our operations staff. For your convenience, we have several pull wagons parked outside Guest Services for your use.

  • The pool is heated naturally by the sun and is open year-round, even during the winter months.

The swimming pool is available to overnight guests staying in guestrooms only.

RV, camping guests, and day users may not use the pool due to size and regulations.

  • There is a recreation room with a TV and games for your enjoyment. Programs and movies are typically available should Mother Nature dampen your plans.

Dine in the restaurant, grab a drink and snack in the Eagles Nest Lounge or sit lakeside on the Park Store porch.

If you have the itch to “get out”, shopping and caving are nearby in Burnet and Marble Falls, only a short drive from the property.

  • If you must have a television in your room, we are not the resort for you.

We purposely exercise a distraction-free environment with a focus on nature and education. We’re referred to as “Kid and Dog Heaven” for a reason. There is a swimming pool, fishing, outdoor water activities, and up to 14-miles of designated hiking trails for both children and adults. We feature nature and interpretative programs for all ages to enjoy.

  • The Falls are on private property so you cannot walk to them. They are accessible by boat only and it makes an enjoyable day activity for the entire family.

Contact Guest Services to book a ride on our Canyon Cruise.

During the winter eagles nest in that area.

  • Horseback riding is not permitted in the Nature Park because it would disrupt the natural ecosystem. Horseback riding is available nearby at Revellie Ranch.

  • There are trails designated for bicycle use only. Motorized vehicles are not allowed on trails except for emergencies and operations. From March 1 – August 31, select trails may be limited to foot traffic only to protect the ecosystem and endangered species of birds.

  • There is no boat ramp on the property, however, only three miles from the park on RR 2341 there is one located at Burnet County Park.

Lake levels vary and our boat dock may at times be inaccessible. When lake levels are normal, our boat dock allows you to tie your boat up for short periods so guests may enjoy our shopping, restaurant, or activities. There is no overnight boat docking in the park.

  • We have single ad tandem kayaks available for rent daily from 9a-3p.

Reservations are made through Guest Services with pick-up lakeside at the Park Store. Kayaks are rented only to overnight resort guests.

  • The quaint town of Burnet is 18 miles from the Canyon of the Eagles and has many attractions of its own. You’ll find wineries, antique, craft, jewelry, and home décor stores as well as restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream stores, and a train robbery reenactment just east of the town square.

  • March through mid-May are the best months to enjoy the bluebonnets.

The Park is full of wildflowers and scenic beauty. Our Ranch Road 2341 is referred to as “the most scenic highway in Texas.”

  • You may fish from our dock, fish from a boat, or join a fishing excursion led by a professional guide. Fishing licenses are required for all ages designated by the Texas Park and Wildlife.

  • Not at this time. Nearby Thunderbird Lodge has boat rentals. Please inquire at Guest Services for rental locations.
